April 15, 2014: Season Two Announcement

Vox Populi Radio

April 16, 2014

On April 15, 2014, Tax Day, Sean Astin returned to his roots on the lawn of the Federal Building in the heart of Westwood Village, Los Angeles, to announce the start of Season Two of Vox Populi on May 1, 2014 at noon PDT on TradioV.com.

Sean has a great love for the area he grew up in, and he disclosed how it is still a unifying force for the passions in his life: family, running, travel, citizenship and politics. Sean issued a reminder that while our government owes 17 ½ trillion dollars, that the revenue from taxes is anticipated to be three trillion dollars, and “the survival of our nation and that of the world economy requires that we develop a new model.”

Sean continued, “I have come here today to say that I wish to participate in a somewhat beleaguered tradition: that of having conversations about what our nation might look like with passion and integrity and understanding for each other’s humanity.” He issued a clarion call for action, encouraging his almost 1,000 Kickstarter supporters and others listening to “tune in, tweet in, call in, to make yourself part of the show.” He encouraged civil discourse and listening to others with respect and offered a safe place for people to speak their mind, ask questions and suggest topics for the show. Vox Populi is “a space of peace, a space of constructive dialogue, a place of respectful disagreement and ultimately, I hope, a place for learning and progress.”
